About the Opera.
Premiered at La Scala in 1842, Verdi’s Nabucco (libretto by Temistocle Solera) charts the biblical struggle
between the Hebrews and the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar. Its emblematic chorus “Va, pensiero” became a cultural
touchstone, while the title role demands a commanding dramatic baritone capable of both regal authority and striking
psychological nuance.

Michael Heinicke, with designs by Peter Sykora (sets & costumes).
