In October 2013, Teatro Regio di Parma’s Festival Verdi presented five performances of Verdi’s
Falstaff at Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto (12–26 October), conducted by Sebastiano Rolli. Baritone Piero Terranova sang Sir John Falstaff in alternation with Renato Bruson, joined by Vincenzo Taormina (Ford), Leonardo Cortellazzi/Sehoon Moon (Fenton), Alice Quintavalla (Alice), Linda Jung (Nannetta), Kleopatra Papatheologou (Mrs. Quickly), and Valeria Tornatore (Meg).

About the Opera.
Verdi’s final opera, Falstaff (1893), is a sparkling comic masterpiece with a libretto by Arrigo Boito
after Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor (with touches of Henry IV). Written in through-composed
scenes, it favors quicksilver ensembles, deft characterization, and chamber-like orchestral colors over grand set pieces.
