In January 2015, the Royal Opera House Muscat presented two staged performances of Verdi’s Falstaff (29–30 January) conducted by Pietro Mianiti and staged by Stephen Medcalf. Baritone Piero Terranova sang the title role alongside Kwanghyun Kim (Ford), Sehoon Moon (Fenton), Alice Quintavalla (Alice), and Fatma Said (Nannetta), with the Orchestra of Accademia Teatro alla Scala, the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Parma, and the Chorus of the Teatro Regio di Parma.

About the Opera.
Verdi’s final opera, Falstaff (1893), is a brilliant comic masterpiece set to Arrigo Boito’s libretto after Shakespeare.
Packed with quicksilver ensembles, luminous orchestration and a radiant fugue finale (“Tutto nel mondo è burla”), it crowns
Verdi’s career with wit, warmth and astonishing musical invention.

Design was by Jamie Vartan (sets & costumes), with lighting by Simon Corder and assistant direction by Jacopo Spirei.
