About the Opera.
Premiered in 1857 and extensively revised in 1881, Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra is a politically charged drama set in 14th-century Genoa.
Its intimate father–daughter core and darkly hued orchestration culminate in the great Council Chamber scene and the moving final reconciliation.
